Freedom In Truth

This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending a women's conference...but more important than that, I was a part of seeing a dream come to life.

A few of my girlfriends from Pocomoke have been involved with a small group and started to feel God speak to them ... that each of them had a "story" to share ... and the idea of this women's conference was born.

Fast forward to this weekend and that's exactly what happened.
120 women.
Gathered together in a restored movie theater.
Four women, completely transparent and vulnerable.
Sharing their stories.
Reminding us there IS freedom in truth.

"If We're Honest"
Truth is harder than a lie
The dark seems safer than the light
And everyone has a heart that loves to hide
I'm a mess and so are you
We've built walls nobody can get through
Yeah, it may be hard, but the best thing we could ever do, ever do

Bring your brokenness, and I'll bring mine
'Cause love can heal what hurt divides
And mercy's waiting on the other side
If we're honest
If we're honest

Don't pretend to be something that you're not
Living life afraid of getting caught
There is freedom found when we lay
our secrets down at the cross, at the cross

It would change our lives
It would set us free
It's what we need to be

This is the song the worship team opened up with.
How perfect, right?!

My favorite line - "I'm a mess and so are you"

Now ain't that the truth!!!
You know I am quick to tell others what a hot mama mess I am, but truly, they don't even know that half of it.

I struggle.
I struggle with things no one knows about.
I've talked about it on here before...
This need I think many of us have to "keep it all together..."
To not let anyone see the real us.

Quite frankly, it would be scary either way.

To be vulnerable and completely honest.
To share the deepest pain, hurts, wounds, and scars.
Or to be on the receiving end and letting someone be able to release all that to you.

Ummmmm, yeah.  That takes guts!
More than guts.  That takes Jesus.

You know it's really easy to paint a pretty picture for everyone.
(Not artistically, unless you've got some real talent)
But you know what I mean, right?
The happy faces in front of everyone.
The "I'm ok" when you're falling to pieces on the inside.
The house, car, clothes...

But you know what I'm learning more and more?
There is FREEDOM in TRUTH!

Over the next few days I will be sharing these ladies stories with you and I'm forewarning you....they will just blow you away.  In a good way, of course.
My hope is, like me, you will see how God is using each of them.
And that you will notice that in each of their stories, they've had people come alongside them...
Because God puts people in our life when we need them the most.
We are so much better together.

And God WILL use your story...

In closing, I wanted to share something I read today:

[Jesus called Peter a "rock" long before Peter was stable and mature. He leads us by calling out what He sees, not by calling out our failures.]

Friends...we are going to go thru "stuff" and life isn't always "pretty."

People will get it wrong.
Churches will get it wrong.
But guess what?!?
God NEVER gets it wrong!!!

Stand firm. And remember we have an anchor for our souls.
We have a God who is bigger than any Giant we will face.
No matter what you're going thru...He is faithful!!!

And He IS using YOU...Your story will ultimately lead to His story!
